Deleting your account
You can delete your Friends Day account and everything tied to it. This page explains how to ask, exactly what happens, and the parts we cannot undo — because a plan you already texted to six people is on six phones, and no button here reaches those.
How to delete your account
In the app. This is the quickest route and it needs nobody’s help.
- Open Friends Day and go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account. The next screen lists the upcoming days you started, because deleting cancels them — nothing has happened yet at this point.
- Confirm. Deletion runs on our servers and takes a moment; if it is interrupted, reopening the screen and tapping again picks up where it stopped.
By email, if you have already removed the app. Write to support@goodatswift.com from any address, with the phone number you verified with. We will confirm the request with you on that number before deleting anything, so that nobody can delete your account by knowing your number.
What gets deleted
- Your account and the sign-in credential behind it.
- Your phone number, from the private record that holds it and from the fingerprint index. The number is released, so you — or anyone — can verify it again in future and start fresh.
- Your profile, including your display name.
- Days you created that have not happened yet, which are cancelled so that nobody is left holding a plan with no owner. Everyone on them can still see that the day was cancelled.
- Every public link for those days, immediately. Anyone holding one sees that the link is no longer active.
- A Group with nobody else in it, along with its picture. If you were the only person in a Group who had an account, nobody else could ever open it again, so it goes with you. Groups with other people in them do not — see below.
- Notifications to your devices. The tokens that let us reach your phone are removed, so nothing further can arrive on it.
- Your name, from other people’s days. Ideas you added and history rows about you stay — they are part of a plan other people are still using — but they are attributed to a former member rather than to you.
One thing survives on purpose: a record that this account was deleted, holding its identifier and nothing else. It is what stops a sign-in that was already in progress from acting on an account that has gone, and there is nothing personal in it.
What carries on without you
Deleting your account should cost other people as little as possible. Most of what you made is also theirs, so it stays.
- Groups you made keep going. The Group, its name, its picture and its list of People all stay, and looking after it passes to whoever has been in the Group longest — the same way a group message survives the person who started it. Nobody has to do anything; it simply carries on.
- Ideas you added stay on the plans they belong to, attributed to a former member rather than to you. They are part of days other people are still using.
- Days other people started keep going, and days you started that have already happened stay as the record of them.
What we cannot delete
- Messages you already sent. The card and link you texted are on the phones you sent them to. Deleting your account stops the link from working, but it cannot remove the message.
- Days other people created. A day belongs to whoever started it. Your personal information comes out of it; the plan itself keeps existing for the people still on it.
- Copies in backups, briefly. Deletion propagates through our systems and backups within 30 days.
- Anything the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires it.
Deleting the app is not deleting your account. Removing Friends Day from your phone leaves your account and days on our servers, and someone who adds your number to a day will still create an invitation waiting for you. Use the process above if you want it gone.
If you just want out of one day
You do not need to delete your account for that. Open the day and choose Leave Friends Day — you come off the plan, you stop seeing it, and the link for that day rotates so your copy of it stops working.
